In South Africa, Dr Shan Shan Jing began her global health journey as a medical student volunteering in township clinics. In Bangladesh, she joined the Women for Women mission alongside Ruma Khan and The Emirates Foundation. In Uganda, she performed reconstructive surgery for burns and congenital clefts. In Malawi, she taught hand surgery to local medical teams through the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH). In Zambia, she contributed to surgical training with BFIRST, helping to train local clinicians and support the establishment of the Zambian Hand Service.
